DraftKings Predictions $200 Bonus: What Iowa Traders Need to Know
DraftKings Predictions is offering new customers up to $200 in bonus trading credits after a first-time qualifying trade of $5 or more. The promotion, available as of September 2026, gives Iowans a chance to trade on sports event contracts and other prediction markets through a federally regulated platform.
While Iowa does not currently offer sports event contract trading through DraftKings Predictions, the platform itself is live in 48 states, including Iowa. This means Hawkeye State residents can still access non-sports prediction markets, including financial markets tracking cryptocurrency, inflation, jobs, and the stock market.
How the DraftKings Predictions welcome bonus works
New DraftKings customers who make a first-time qualifying trade of $5 or more using real money from their cash balance will receive $50 in bonus trading credits instantly. The remaining $150 is awarded in $50 increments every seven days over a 21-day period.
Each bonus credit requires a click-to-claim action, and those claims expire seven days after issuance. Once claimed, bonus credits remain valid for one year. They are non-withdrawable, cannot be redeemed for cash, and must be used for trades before any cash balance is applied.
Profits from trades made with bonus credits are transferred to the customer's cash balance.
Where is DraftKings Predictions available?
DraftKings Predictions operates in 48 of 50 states, including Washington, D.C., and all U.S. territories. New Hampshire and Maine are the only exceptions. The platform is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and is a member of the National Futures Association.
However, sports event contract trading is not available in every state where the platform operates. Iowa is among the states where sports markets are excluded, along with Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and the District of Columbia.
Sports markets are currently available in 18 states: Alabama, Alaska, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, and Utah, plus all U.S. territories except Puerto Rico.
How prediction markets work
DraftKings Predictions allows participants to buy and sell event contracts based on the likelihood of an outcome. For example, a trader might purchase a contract at $0.50 for a team to win a game. If that team wins, the contract pays out at $1.00, generating a $0.50 profit per contract.
Contract prices shift in real time based on market demand. Participants can view pricing in multiple formats, including dollar amounts, percentages, or American odds, by adjusting settings in their account profile.
Trading carries risk, and a complete loss of invested funds is possible. DraftKings recommends that participants conduct their own research before making trades.
DraftKings Predictions vs. traditional sportsbooks
The key difference between DraftKings Predictions and a traditional sportsbook like DraftKings Sportsbook is how odds are set. In a sportsbook, the house sets odds and adjusts them. In prediction markets, participants trade contracts with each other, and prices move based on supply and demand.
For example, in the France vs. Spain World Cup semifinal, DraftKings Sportsbook listed the three-way line at France +140, Draw +215, and Spain +215. DraftKings Predictions showed equivalent pricing at France 41%, Draw 30%, and Spain 30%.
States that offer DraftKings Sportsbook do not offer DraftKings Predictions sports trading, and vice versa.
Deposits and withdrawals
Funds on DraftKings Predictions cannot be shared with other DraftKings platforms, including Sportsbook and Casino. Federal regulations require that trading balances for event contracts remain fully segregated from other platforms.
Deposit options include online banking, debit card, Apple Pay, PayPal, and Venmo. Credit cards are not accepted. Wire transfers are available but take longer to process.
Online banking is the recommended withdrawal method, with processing times up to two business days. Debit card and Apple Pay withdrawals typically complete in under 24 hours, while Venmo and PayPal take one to two business days.
App experience and customer support
The DraftKings Predictions app features a green-and-black interface similar to other DraftKings products. Navigation menus at the top of the app and website make it easy to find markets, and a search bar helps locate specific events.
The app is designed for customers familiar with DraftKings platforms, though it lacks some of the advanced features found on competitors like Kalshi and Polymarket. Users can track open and settled trades in the
