Former Hawkeye Guard Dasonte Bowen Transfers to Penn State
Former Iowa Hawkeyes point guard Dasonte Bowen is heading back to the Big Ten. The veteran guard has signed with Penn State after two productive seasons at St. Bonaventure, becoming the sixth transfer portal addition for the Nittany Lions this offseason.

Bowen entered the transfer portal after a strong redshirt junior season at St. Bonaventure, where he established himself as one of the top playmakers in the Atlantic 10 Conference. He has one year of eligibility remaining and will enroll at Penn State as a graduate student.
The 6-foot-2 guard from Boston started 43 games over two seasons with the Bonnies. Last season, Bowen averaged 10.9 points and a career-high 4.8 assists per game. He ranked in the top five among Atlantic 10 players in assists per game, minutes played, and assist-to-turnover ratio. He also shot 85.2 percent from the free-throw line, ninth best in the conference.
His 2024-25 season ended early due to injury, which allowed him to receive a redshirt and preserve his final year of eligibility. Before the injury, Bowen had started 10 games at point guard, averaging 11.1 points and 4.2 assists per contest.

Iowa fans will remember Bowen from his two seasons in Iowa City. The guard played in 51 games for the Hawkeyes between 2022 and 2024, starting eight of them. He averaged 4.4 points and 2 assists per game during his time at Iowa.
As a true freshman, Bowen appeared in 26 games and showed flashes of his potential, including a 12-point performance against Duke at Madison Square Garden.
