In the latest Corn Nation fan poll, quarterback Anthony Colandrea and the three-back rotation of Dante Rule, Jamal Nelson, and Marcus Mozee each pulled in 32 percent of the vote, creating a dead heat that reflects the balanced attack the Huskers have shown through non-conference play.
The poll, which ran over the weekend, asked fans to pick which area of the team is working best this season. The defensive line was a fifth option but failed to receive a single vote, though Saturday's performance against North Dakota might change that if fans voted again today.
Defensive Line Makes a Statement After Being Shut Out
The timing of the poll results is a bit unfortunate for the big guys up front. The defensive line didn't register a single vote, but then went out and held North Dakota to under 100 yards rushing while racking up five sacks and six additional quarterback hits.
It is fair to wonder whether a revote today would put the big 'uns on the board. The unit's dominance in the trenches was on full display, and Husker fans who overlooked them in the poll might be singing a different tune this week.

Fourteen percent of fans said they appreciated the lack of confusion timeouts and the team's improved ability to get plays and players in quickly. That particular vote did not age especially well, as several of those exact kind of timeouts were called on Saturday against North Dakota.
It is a small sample size, but the Huskers will need to clean up those issues before heading to East Lansing for their first Big Ten road test of the season.
