Iowa Beef Producer Among 10 New Companies Adopting 'Product of USA' Label
Ten additional meat and poultry companies, including Iowa-based Upper Iowa Beef, have opted to use the 'Product of USA' label on their products, making it easier for American families to identify domestically sourced food items, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced July 10.
The voluntary labeling standard, which took effect Jan. 1, applies to meat, poultry, and processed egg products. For single-ingredient items, the label requires that the animal be born, raised, harvested, and processed entirely within the United States. For multi-ingredient products, every component except spices and flavorings must be sourced domestically, and all processing must occur in the U.S.
