Iowa Congressman Demands WNBA Protect Caitlin Clark From Excessive Physicality
Iowa Congressman Zach Nunn is leading a bipartisan push to hold the WNBA accountable for protecting Caitlin Clark, the West Des Moines native and Indiana Fever star who has become a target of excessive physicality on the court. Nunn, who represents Iowa's 3rd Congressional District, signed a letter to WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert demanding answers about player safety.
Clark, a former University of Iowa standout, has transformed women's basketball, drawing millions of new fans and generating an estimated billion dollars in economic impact. But her rookie season has been marred by repeated hard fouls and dangerous plays that critics say the league has failed to address.
