Iowa in the Path: Partial Solar Eclipse Visible Across the State on August 12, 2026
Skywatchers across Iowa will have a front-row seat to a partial solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, as the moon takes a bite out of the sun for viewers across the Hawkeye State and much of the northern United States.
While the total solar eclipse will pass over Greenland, Iceland, parts of northern Russia, Spain, Portugal, and the Atlantic Ocean, Iowans will see a dramatic partial eclipse. The moon will cover a portion of the sun, creating a crescent-shaped sun that should be visible from all 99 counties, weather permitting.
