Iowa State's Lipsey Chases NBA Dream Inspired by Haliburton

Tamin Lipsey grew up in Ames watching Tyrese Haliburton dominate the floor at Hilton Coliseum. Now the former Cyclones point guard is chasing his own NBA dream, carrying the lessons he learned from an Iowa State legend who walked the same path.

A Bond Built in Ames

Lipsey was a Cyclones fan long before he wore the uniform. That meant Haliburton was a role model during his teenage years, and the connection only deepened over Lipsey's four seasons in Ames. Haliburton still returns to Iowa State games whenever his NBA schedule allows, including a trip to Purdue in December.

On Thursday, Lipsey traveled to Indianapolis for a pre-draft workout with the Pacers. Haliburton wasn't there to watch, but for good reason. The two-time All-Star is celebrating his upcoming wedding.
