Michigan-Michigan State basketball rivalry games locked in for 2026-27 with prime TV slots
The Michigan and Michigan State men's basketball teams will get plenty of national television exposure this season, with both rivalry games landing on major networks and several other marquee matchups set for prime viewing windows.
The Big Ten's broadcast schedule, released Tuesday, Oct. 6, shows the Wolverines and Spartans will each play at least 11 games on FOX or CBS during the 2026-27 campaign. That includes both head-to-head meetings between the in-state rivals.
When are the Michigan-Michigan State basketball games in 2026-27?
The first matchup takes place Feb. 13 in Ann Arbor, with tipoff set for 1 p.m. on CBS. The rematch in East Lansing is scheduled for Feb. 26 at 8 p.m. on FOX.
Both games figure to have significant implications in the Big Ten standings and could factor into NCAA tournament seeding for both programs.
What other big games are on the schedule for Michigan and Michigan State?
The Spartans will face Duke in the Champions Classic on Nov. 10 in Chicago, a game that will be broadcast on ESPN. Michigan's Jan. 23 trip to USC will air on NBC.
Both programs will also have games on streaming-only platforms, including Peacock and BTN-plus.
Michigan State has five regular-season games on Peacock: home matchups against Toledo (Nov. 5) and Maryland (Feb. 2), plus road contests at USC (Jan. 12), Iowa (Feb. 16) and Indiana (Feb. 23).
The Spartans' Oct. 20 exhibition against UConn and season opener against Quinnipiac on Nov. 2 will stream on BTN-plus. Their exhibition finale at Marquette on Nov. 25 will be available on YouTube.
Michigan also has five games on Peacock, including a nonconference clash with Louisville on Dec. 5 at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena. Big Ten home games against Oregon (Jan. 19) and Illinois (Feb. 9), plus road games at Nebraska (Jan. 5) and UCLA (Jan. 26), will air on NBC's streaming service.
How can Iowa fans watch Michigan State when the Spartans visit Iowa City?
Michigan State travels to Iowa on Feb. 16, with the game set for 9 p.m. on Peacock. The Spartans also host Iowa on Feb. 20 in East Lansing, with that game airing on FOX at 8 p.m.
Michigan hosts Iowa on Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. on CBS.
What other broadcast details matter for fans?
All three of Michigan's exhibitions (Eastern Michigan on Oct. 11, Oregon State on Oct. 16 and Houston on Oct. 25) and its home game against William & Mary on Nov. 15 will stream on BTN-plus.
The Spartans and Wolverines will also appear on BTN and FS1 throughout the season. Michigan's games in the Players Era tournament in Las Vegas will be broadcast on ESPN networks.
Both teams have several other notable nonconference matchups. Michigan faces UConn in Boston on Nov. 6 (TNT), Villanova on Nov. 21 (FOX) and Creighton in the Players Era tournament. Michigan State plays Tennessee on Nov. 17, Arkansas at Little Caesars Arena on Nov. 26 (CBS) and Gonzaga in the Acrisure Series on Dec. 19 (CBS).
