Midwest High School Football Rankings: Trinity Holds Top Spot, Iowa Commit Shines

For the first time in the 2026 high school football season, the top spot in the USA TODAY Sports Midwest Regional Super 15 remains unchanged. Trinity (KY) held onto its No. 1 ranking with a perfect 3-0 record, while an Iowa commit delivered a standout performance in Indiana that caught the attention of Hawkeye fans.

Iowa Commit Keyon Thomas Dominates for Warren Central

Warren Central (Indianapolis, IN) improved to 3-0 with a thrilling 45-42 victory over North Central in a game that ended after midnight due to extreme heat. Iowa commit running back Keyon Thomas was the star, rushing for 294 yards and three touchdowns in the win.

Thomas, a senior, has been a workhorse for the Warriors all season. His performance Friday night showcased the kind of power and speed that made him a priority target for the Hawkeyes' recruiting staff. For Iowa fans, Thomas is a name to watch as he heads into his final high school season.

Trinity Remains No. 1 in Midwest Region

Trinity (Louisville, KY) pushed its record to 3-0 with a 31-14 win over Cincinnati Moeller. Senior running back Jamaurion Berry finished with 112 yards and two touchdowns. The Shamrocks now face their biggest test of the season against Baylor (TN), ranked No. 13 in the latest Super 25 national rankings and featuring USA TODAY Sports preseason All-America first teamer David Gabriel Georges, a Tennessee commit.

That game is set for Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m. ET.

Other Notable Results in the Midwest Super 15

Brownsburg (IN) extended its winning streak to 22 games with a 48-0 shutout of Franklin Central. Quarterback Oscar Frye threw three touchdowns. The Bulldogs host rival Avon next week.

Massillon Washington (OH) jumped to No. 3 after a 21-16 win over NFL Academy. Brayton Feister recorded 1.5 sacks and 2.0 tackles for loss.

East St. Louis (IL) slipped to No. 4 despite a 24-21 win over Gainesville (GA). Ronnie Gomiller scored two second-quarter touchdowns to make the difference.

Big Walnut (OH) continued its dominant start, outscoring opponents 115-21 this season after a 44-7 win over Reynoldsburg.

Bishop Watterson (OH) extended its winning streak to 33 games with a 41-10 win over Ursuline. Caden Mangini has rushed for 750 yards and six touchdowns through three games.

St. Edward (OH) beat Wayne 48-21, despite a three-touchdown performance from five-star prospect Jamier Brown, an Ohio State commit. Quarterback Langston Lucas accounted for 232 yards and three scores.

Mount Carmel (IL) bounced back with a 35-7 win over Nazareth Academy. The Caravan face Marist in a key league matchup this week.

Detroit Catholic Central (MI) rolled to a 56-14 win over Davison. Quarterback Duke Banta and wide receiver Gideson Gash each scored three touchdowns.

Cass Tech (MI) overcame a second-half deficit to beat Grandville 48-21. Texas A&M commit Donald Tabron II threw a pick-six but responded with an 80-yard screen pass for a touchdown and led 21 unanswered points.

Millard South (NE) beat Summit (MO) 24-14. Nebraska commit Trae Marshall threw for 240 yards and a touchdown, while Aidan Marshall added a pick-six.

Anderson (OH) won its second straight game, 51-14 over Little Miami. The Raptors have outscored opponents 121-33 since a season-opening loss to Trinity.

Elder (OH) stayed unbeaten with a 42-7 win over East Central. Three interceptions, including one from Brayden Tepe, fueled the victory.

Boyle County (KY) beat Lexington Catholic 35-21 despite losing Oklahoma commit Seneca Driver to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Kain Logan returned an interception for a touchdown to seal the win.
