Trump Visits Theodore Roosevelt Library in North Dakota
President Donald Trump will visit North Dakota on Wednesday to tour the new Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, becoming the facility's first official visitor ahead of its July 4 grand opening. The $450 million project, heavily championed by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, joins a national network of presidential libraries that includes the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa.
What is the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library?
The 96,000-square-foot library opens to the public on July 4, the pinnacle date of celebrations this year honoring the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. All living presidents were invited to the grand opening, which joins more than a dozen such libraries throughout the country. The library explores the 26th president's life, built in the rugged landscape where the young easterner built his conservation values while ranching and hunting in the 1880s.
Library Executive Director Robbie Lauf noted that the remote location is intentional, situated in a county of 1,000 people and a town of 120.
