Todd Blanche, President Donald Trump's nominee for attorney general, faced sharp questioning from Democratic senators Wednesday over his ability to lead the Justice Department independently, as well as controversies surrounding a $1.8 billion fund for Trump allies and the botched release of Jeffrey Epstein files.
Blanche, 51, who served as acting attorney general since Pam Bondi left the post in early April, appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee for the first of two days of confirmation hearings.
