The CBS spinoff, which premiered March 1 and quickly became the most-watched show across broadcast and streaming, trades Kayce's family-centered ending for more bloodshed, conspiracy, and loss.
What Did Kayce Dutton Sacrifice in the Yellowstone Finale?
When Yellowstone closed its fifth and final season, Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, made a choice that resonated with anyone who values family and legacy over power. He sold the historic Dutton Ranch to Thomas Rainwater, Chairman of the Broken Rock Tribe, returning the land to its original Indigenous stewards and breaking a curse that had haunted his family for over 140 years.
That curse cost Kayce his brother Lee and ultimately led to the murder of his father, John Dutton. Selling the ranch was supposed to end the violence. Kayce kept only a small parcel, East Camp, where he planned to live quietly with his wife Monica and their son Tate.
