Shooter Jennings Unveils Waylon's Lost Music, Recalls Fateful Iowa Night
Shooter Jennings is bringing his father's voice back to life. The Grammy-winning producer has discovered long-lost recordings by country music legend Waylon Jennings and is releasing them to the public. Two albums have emerged so far: Songbird and the upcoming Diamonds, set for release later this year. The project carries deep significance for Iowa, where a fateful 1959 night in Clear Lake shaped Waylon's journey and the future of American music.
What Lost Waylon Jennings Music Has Been Found?
Shooter Jennings found previously unreleased material stashed away and has been producing the tracks at Sunset Sound in Hollywood, the legendary studio where Dolly Parton, Fleetwood Mac, and Prince all recorded. He has made about 40 records there himself, but this project is deeply personal.
Two albums have come from the discovery so far. Songbird is already available, and Diamonds will be released later this year. The title track from Diamonds features The Waylors with Glen Campbell on guitar.
Listening to the unreleased tracks for the first time was overwhelming.
