What does the Iran agreement actually do?
Formally known as a memorandum of understanding, the agreement was signed Wednesday by President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The deal successfully reopened the Strait of Hormuz and eased specific sanctions on Iran. However, it left some of the most critical national security issues unresolved. Iran's nuclear program has largely been pushed into future negotiations, and questions surrounding Tehran's missile capabilities remain untouched.
The fragility of the arrangement was highlighted on Sunday when Iran announced it was closing the Strait of Hormuz again following renewed Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
